“He’s a top guy who is very generous on the pitch because he never gives up”.

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing November when they host a rejuvenated Sunderland at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon. The final scoreline was perhaps a little flattering, and despite our 3-1 win it was tense right until the last few minutes.

Olivier Giroud claims that there is more to come from Joel Campbell after the Costa Rican helped Arsenal earn a 3-1 win over Sunderland.

The Wearsiders had a number of presentable opportunities but the likes of Duncan Watmore, Steven Fletcher and Fabio Borini all missed their chances.

Deep into injury time Ramsey bagged his team’s third and the collective sigh of relief in north London was palpable.

Toivonen was much-improved at the Emirates, yet his lack of game-time over recent weeks took its toll in the second half, with Allardyce removing the on-loan Rennes man from the action just after the hour. He played well for the most part and created the first goal of the game when he released Joel Campbell on the left side, who produced a cool finish into the Sunderland goal. Sunderland initially looked far the brighter team.

It is often said that the overall quality of a team is best measured by the strength of its back-up options. Arsenal’s lead would only last for 12 minutes, with Olivier Giroud putting through his own net after a Yann M’Vila cross. Allardyce added “At the minute, we have won the sprint, but we are in the marathon, don’t forget, so we have still got a long way to go to pick up more and more points as quickly as possible”.

“We were a bit edgy and nervous in the first half”, Wenger told Sky Sports.

Ramsey knows he will not be awarded the same licence to get forward in such a game but believes the Gunners can get the required result. Some great work from Monreal and Ramsey left the Sunderland defence static, and Giroud was able to dive in and head the Welshman’s cross past Costel Pantillimon. 2-1. He blazed it over the bar, and there would have been fury if he had have scored as he looked to be offside.

Their persistence finally paid off when Giroud made up for his own goal by scoring Arsenal’s second goal.
