Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger says, ‘We will still sign a striker’

Most people would consider a visit to California in July a holiday. For Arsene Wenger, such a trip is anything but.

The Gunners eased to a 2-1 victory over the Major League Soccer All-Stars on Thursday night thanks to goals from Joel Campbell and Chuba Akpom at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose.

One thing that many failed to notice after the game was the fact that Rob Holding played the full 90 minutes in San Jose – the only player to do so.

‘I personally never had contact with (Jurgen) Klopp or Liverpool, ‘ says Xhaka, who will get more game time in the early hours of tomorrow morning in Los Angeles when Arsenal concluded their United States with a game against the Mexican side Chivas.

“It’s always been hard, look at my hair and my wrinkles and you’ll see it has always been very hard”.

“In my team I believe what is important for us is in this kind of game is to analyze what aspect of our game we do well”.

Arsenal have already failed in attempts to bring strikers Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette after the latter opted to stay at Leicester while Lyon rejected a £29m bid for Lacazette.

Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain left Napoli for Serie A rivals Juventus in a deal worth €90 million (S$135.22 million).

“I know you will ask me for how long he will be out”.

“No, never. And that makes it interesting as well, because all these managers come with big reputations and big trophies”, said Wenger to Yahoo Sports.

“His passing was clean and technically he did well”.

After the game, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was quoted by The Mirror as saying: “He’s adapted surprisingly”. Their progression as young professionals made their selection for the starting 11 hardly a surprise, but watching the two of them stand alongside legends of the game such as Kaka, Andrea Pirlo and Didier Drogba provides a real testament to the strides both they and the Union organization have made in the past year.

“Look, it’s completely insane if you cannot afford to pay it. If you can afford to pay it you can justify it”, said Wenger.

“It was a big occasion before the match, they had some world-class players on their team and it was an honour to play on the same pitch as some of those guys”.

“It’s a friendly game but we still take it seriously”, Akpom said. “For me it is a good opportunity as well to see many young players”.
