Arsenal dealt transfer blow as Valenica manager rules out Mustafi sale

And now bookmakers BetStars are confident Arsene Wenger will follow up their arrivals with Brahimi, who is said to be available for £40million this summer.

Further, Arsenal were desperately chasing Valencia’s defender Shkodran Mustafi, but the deal is yet to reach a conclusion.

Granit Xhaka arrived early in the transfer window from Borussia Monchengladbach following which Arsenal only signed Takuma Asano – who has left on loan to Stuttgart – and Rob Holding, who is seen more as a prospect than an immediate fix.

The Gunners will hope to secure their first win of the new campaign when they travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford.

Arsene Wenger admits he had to “restart” Arsenal’s transfer window after the Gunners missed out on their top targets in the transfer market. “Now we can integrate them into the squad”.

Wenger says there is frustration that the Mustafi deal is yet to be completed with Valencia playing hard-ball in trying to get the best deal for their captain.

Arsenal have also sealed an agreement to sign Deportivo La Coruna forward Lucas Perez, and the deal is set to be announced in the next 24 hours.

Speaking ahead of the game against Watford on Saturday, however, Wenger is very happy with his new acquisitions: “Perez is a late developer, he played in a different position”.

It should ease the pressure on Wenger with supporters demanding that he bolster his squad after only one point from their first two Premier League games.

Wenger has confirmed that both Mustafi and Perez have now joined Arsenal after successfully completing their medical tests and the boss also appeared to suggest they will be our last two signings of the summer.

“I believe a club like ours is focused on giving chances to the players we develop in our own club”. I expect the next three days to be very, very busy.

Asked if signing a defender would affect Chambers’ future, Wenger said: “Future? No”. It is a good test for us to play PSG.

“Basically we got what we were expected”, he said.
