Arsenal eye deal for Deportivo La Coruna forward Lucas Perez

After reports suggested Arsenal would need to cough up £25m if they were to bring Jonny Evans in from West Brom, it seems Wenger is also closing in on Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia.

Perez arrived in England on Thursday night and underwent his medical at London Colney on Friday afternoon with the newspaper saying the 27-year-old has agreed terms over a four-year deal.

Wenger said he is “99 percent confident” of completing the signings before Europe’s summer transfer window shuts late Wednesday.

Arsenal have also sealed an agreement to sign Deportivo La Coruna forward Lucas Perez, and the deal is set to be announced in the next 24 hours.

With Granit Xhaka the only major Gunners signing of the summer transfer window to date, their fans have been crying out for further recruits before next week’s deadline.

Gunners boss Wenger has been heavily criticised by fans for his cautious approach in this transfer window, while the club’s rivals have all strengthened their squads with new additions.

“We are not capable in the end to maintain completely for 90 minutes exactly the same intensity physically, but overall it’s a very encouraging performance and a good win”. I try to make the decision.

Both deals are now in the closing stages, moving towards finalization, and the combined expenditure makes for the most expensive day in Arsene Wenger transfer market history.

“It was a unusual transfer market – I expected it to be easier than ever but it was more hard than ever”, Wenger said. Not a lot has happened.

“It looks like it will be frenetic in the last three days”.

“Everybody has sat on their pounds until now”. “So you have to restart, and when you restart, when you [deal] with some leagues they’re on holiday”. I expect the next three days to be very, very busy.

Arsenal were then unable to reach an agreement over a fee for Toprak, who is rated as one of the Bundesliga’s most consistent defenders, with Leverkusen so renewed their attempts to land 24-year-old Germany worldwide Mustafi.

Asked if signing a defender would affect Chambers’ future, Wenger said: “Future? No”.
