“He will bring a wealth of global and Premier League experience”, added Blake, “so we are delighted to be able to welcome a player of his calibre to the club”. “You can’t win them all”.

But Xavi still believes Wilshere will still be among the best and a loan deal will flawless to get back on shape.

While Wenger is a big fan of Wilshere, the Arsenal manager also knows if the midfielder is to fulfill his potential, he needs to be playing 90 minutes of football regularly.

It is now unclear where Wilshere, who missed out on Sam Allardyce’s first England squad, may go.

Wilshere would join former Arsenal youngster Oguzhan Ozyakup at Besiktas if the transfer goes ahead.
