Arsenal legend Thierry Henry: Why Liverpool are serious contenders for Prem title

“So it promises to be a very exciting one and a very hard one as well”. We have to wait to see when to test it.

“Normally we would want four or five matches before the big games turn up, but we don’t decide the fixture list”.

Approaching the 20th anniversary of his appointment by Arsenal, Wenger finds himself under pressure to deliver from the club’s fans as never before.

Despite the influx of new talent at the top end of the Premier League, Arsene Wenger remains confident that Arsenal can still compete this season.

“Liverpool are opening the season with three away games because of the work on the main stand at Anfield. But of course now we go for points and we want to transfer the confidence we got from our pre-season into efficiency in the championship”.

There probably won’t be a better time to play Arsenal and that is reflected in the betting with the prices being relatively tight.

This leaves Arsenal with the only option of going in with inexperienced defenders like Calum Chambers or Rob Holding. It means, with Danny Welbeck still out with a long-term injury and Olivier Giroud not yet match sharp, either Alexis Sanchez or Theo Walcott are set to start the season up front.

“Arsenal is usually a football playing team but last time against us there was a lot of long balls and always to Olivier Giroud. Arsenal are without a number of key players, especially defensively, and from what I’ve seen they look under-cooked”.

Liverpool come into the new season in good spirits after Jurgen Klopp enjoyed a successful first preseason campaign with the Reds. We only think about our play and our game. It’s possible because we are all human beings and things can happen that should not happen too often.

After making signings compatible to his system in the likes of Sadio Mane, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip, Klopp does not see why his side can not make a legitimate claim for the title.

On Sturridge, Klopp added: “With Daniel, yesterday he had something like a “clearing session” with his issues”.

The Liverpool first face a decimated Arsenal.

They thumped FC Barcelona 4-0 at Wembley last weekend, before then falling 4-0 to Mainz the following day, but more can be taken from the clash with the Spanish giants as Klopp fielded an nearly full-strength side.
