Arsenal look to loan out Wilshere

Both players endured injury-ravaged seasons last term, but Wilshere appears to be further down the pecking order and it is believed a mutual agreement has been made between player and club that a temporary move would be beneficial.

Arsenal are willing to let Jack Wilshere leave on loan for the 2016-17 season before the transfer window shuts on Wednesday.

But the Cherries succeeded in signing the midfielder, who hopes to revive his club and global career after missing out on Sam Allardyce’s first England squad.

“Jack just hasn’t had enough game time”, he told reporters, according to The Independent. The midfielder, who made his Arsenal debut at 16 but has seen his progress stunted by a number of serious injuries, could now be sent overseas or to another Premier League club in order to get his career back on track.

As with Wilshere, winger Gnabry plays in a position in which Arsenal have considerable strength in depth, and the Bundesliga club’s director of football Frank Baumann on Tuesday spoke of his confidence he would arrive.

Wenger has no plans to sell Wilshere, who came out of the club’s academy and has always been tipped as a future Gunners captain, but both sides realise that the player would benefit from a loan move, the source said. The presence of Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin, Mohamed Elneny, Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil means they have no desire to replace Wilshere.

The betting odds (which we have been following all day) have now been removed from the majority of the big firms, while the latest were quoting Wilshere as short as 1/20 to become Howe’s latest signing, and this looks like it should be wrapped up in the coming hours.

This comes as a surprise as the 24-year-old is one of Arsene Wenger’s favourite players at the club and was expected to be a future captain. It is a question of game time and the contribution he is making to Arsenal.

Wenger still rates Chambers highly, though, and wants to see him develop by playing regularly as a centre-back in the Premier League.
