Now, call that incredible foresight, call it spooky, or simply call it what it is, which is a lucky guess, it’s still a bit weird.

The England worldwide has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons and played only three times in the Premier League for Arsenal last season after suffering a fracture just prior to the start of the campaign.

Despite featuring in all three of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season, the Gunners are happy for Wilshere to temporarily move elsewhere.

The new GAA Hour football podcast is here.

With injuries blighting his career – Wilshere missed pretty much the whole of last season – the key for the midfielder will be to get playing time, and after talking to manager Eddie Howe and former Arsenal teammate Benik Afobe, who is also the godfather to Wilshere’s child, the Arsenal Academy product chose to sign for Bournemouth.

Wilshere will be hoping the switch to the Dean Court somewhat resurrects his career, having been hampered by numerous injuries over the past couple of seasons.

Roma – who were knocked out in the Champions League play-off round last month – made a concerted effort to sign Wilshere while AC Milan and Juventus also registered an interest.

They on Tuesday finally confirmed the signings of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez, when Calum Chambers also joined Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.

Former Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp is confident Wilshere can kick-start his career at Vitality Stadium after an injury-hit couple of seasons.

Do you think Wilshere’s time at Arsenal is up?

The injury-prone England global will hope to revitalise his career with Eddie Howe on the South Coast after only making 17 Premier League appearances over the last two seasons.

“Bournemouth are a passing team and I can see why Wenger thinks Eddie Howe’s style of play will suit Wilshere but they aren’t going to dominate matches in the way that Arsenal so often do”.

Indeed, after being out for so long and proving so unreliable, it shouldn’t be a surprise he found himself behind Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin in Wenger’s plans.
