His agent told Czech publication iDNES that the former Borussia Dortmund man has undergone surgery on his knee and could miss two months of the season while he recovers, with the Czech captain struggling to be fit for global matches against Turkey and the Netherlands in October.
Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky is set for a spell on the sidelines following minor knee surgery.
The 34-year-old, who made six Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season, recently penned a 12-month contract extension with the north London club.
With Jack Wilshere out injured, it seems like Wenger might have to dip into the market once again for a midfield signing. He will be out for a minimum of four weeks, but his recovery time is expected to be longer than that, according to the Guardian’s David Hytner.
