Arsenal must start well despite injuries, says Wenger

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed his concern about the extent of striker Diego Costa’s persistent hamstring injury.

“I agree with them, but for me it’s important you go where you’ll be happy”.

Because my first match with him was a friendly match in Malaysia, two years ago, where I was so disappointed with his light attitude.

“Every club has very good players so I think it’s hard for the top teams in England because of the competitive nature”.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho signed a new four-year deal, the club announced.

Didi Hamann: There are a lot of unknowns, but firstly the players they brought in last year have obviously got to do better.

De Gea will have to keep Tottenham’s Harry Kane at bay, as the striker looks to build upon his breakthrough season last year where he scored 31 goals in all competitions.

Falcao and Loic Remy squandered another chance to prove themselves as understudies for Costa, leaving the manager with food for thought ahead of the start of the new season tomorrow. And Manchester City will regret getting rid of James Milner, because they have failed to replace his versatility and commitment so far in this transfer window.

The Premier League champions were defeated by Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, and Wenger appeared to swerve a handshake with his counterpart at the full time whistle.

So while Arsenal may challenge strongly after signing Petr Cech from the Blues, victory in what is, ultimately, a pre-season game does not offer any extra reason to believe that Chelsea’s title defence can be derailed by any team from north London.

Costa missed a large portion of the final weeks of the season because of his injury and it has continued to plague him throughout the summer. After 15 games you will know more about that. “We arrived at the conclusion that players pick themselves – that’s the responsibility that they must have”.

The Blues hammed Garry Monk’s men when they last played, at the Liberty Stadium in January, as braces from Oscar and Diego Costa inflicted the Swans’ heaviest home Premier League defeat.

I don’t risk my reputation again. “I just want to play, to dribble, to do some skills”.
