The Chile star only returned to training on Thursday following his Copa America exploits but it was suggested he could make the squad for the season curtain raiser.

As ever with the hard-working Chilean forward Sanchez’s commitment to his fitness has impressed Wenger.
“Alexis is back in training but I don’t think he will be involved on Sunday [9 August against West Ham], it is a bit early maybe”, he told Arsenal’s official website.
Speaking on the recent videos of Sanchez training on a beach, he added: “Alex without running around is not Alex, you know”. You can’t imagine him lying on the beach somewhere and not moving!
“We have Rosicky on a progressive recovery,” Wenger said, which has been typical of most of Rosicky’s career at Arsenal.
“With the team that Arsene has put together, except for one position, I think it’s a club that’s ready to successfully fight for European cups”.

Regarding the deals, he said: “I’m very happy because first of all, they are two exceptional players, and as well because I think the cohesion inside the club is an underestimated quality”.
