Arsenal players have no faith in Arsene Wenger – Oliver Khan

When things are good, they’re really good.

“Even though on the pitch we aren’t always playing at the level we expected”.

“But I don’t think Arsenal have got anybody doing that in this team”.

In the second half, Toni Kroos and Casemiro scored for Madrid again and made the first leg end in the club’s favour.

Ozil is the consummate Wenger player. “He’s the one who brings the players in”.

“He’s realising that with this team, he’s getting no response from them”.

It was going grand until the 11th minute at which point Arsenal decided that Arjen Robben cutting in from the right and taking a swing with his left foot posed no danger, despite the fella netting incessantly from these very situations since he first laid eyes on a football.

Ozil was beyond invisible on Wednesday.

The Gunners were out-played in Munich, a match which many regarded as a one-sided affair.

Thomas Müller or Thiago Alcantara?

Here’s what happened in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, in case you missed it…

Martin Keown believes that if Wenger stays at Arsenal for long, he will undo whatever he has done at the club during his first eight years as manager.

The offer of a two-year contract would appear to be on the table so it’s up to him.

Back-to-back defeats to Watford and Chelsea in the Premier League have effectively killed off their faint hopes of a title challenge, with Antonio Conte’s side 10 points clear of them.

Kahn, who is a former Bayern goalkeeper, won eight Bundesliga titles, the Champions League and the European Championship during his career.

“The difference between the two squads, they (Bayern) were men against boys, they were bigger and stronger”.

‘It’s easy to blame Ozil because he has a languid style. He represents something much bigger though – an culture where aesthetics trumps winning. His most trenchant critics will say that this is precisely Wenger’s fault and responsibility: “the best reason to end it all with a hug in May”. Arsenal aren’t willing to get dirty when it matters.

Bayern, the five-time champion, has knocked Arsenal out in the round of 16 three times – in 2005, 2013 and 2014.

It’s hard to blame Ozil for this though. “I don’t want him to be like a boxer who has been in the ring too long and taken too many punches, but this is 20 years of work here and you don’t want to lose (that)”.

But Ancelotti will be relieved his side showed what it is capable of after five unconvincing games since the winter break, when Bayern faced criticism for looking exhausted and lacking the dominance it displayed at the start of the season.

“That would be nice”, he added, with the return leg at the Emirates Stadium on March 7.
