Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has come out in defence of his countryman and fellow World Cup victor Bastian Schweinsteiger in an interview with German media outlet Sport1, after the Manchester United midfielder received some questioning early reviews in the UK media, especially regarding his fitness.

The Germany playmaker has been in decent form for Arsene Wenger’s men so far this season but has often been accused of lacking ruthlessness in front of goal for the Gunners.
Despite this some haven’t been kind to “immense” Schweinsteiger, says Ozil but “whenever the English media writes about” him they put that he is “a World Cup victor before his name.” Now, says Ozil he’s “the German world champion who should make the difference for United.”
Arsenal were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool at the Emirates stadium in the final game of the second round of the 2015-16 Premier League season.
Arsenal have now failed to score in five of their last six Premier League home games, and Neville insists that the likes of Ozil and Sanchez need to do more for the team. “What’s important firstly is that we are successful as a team. In truth I’m more the sort of player who doesn’t really go for goal, I tend to look for my team-mates and think, “Can I play this pass”?”
“[Özil and Alexis Sanches] Good players, fantastic players but I don’t think Özil has ever taken responsibility for his teammates”, Neville said on Monday Night Football show on Sky Sports.

However four games into the new season Ozil is yet to add to his tally of 12 goals for Wenger’s side.
