Arsenal star strengthens case to be included in England’s Euro 2016 squad

Roy Hodgson can not escape that particular occupational hazard, but the England manager has at least sensibly bought himself some time and thinking space by delaying the announcement of his Euro 2016 squad until after the final round of Premier League fixtures this weekend.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim that Hodgson was at Upton Park last night to watch Jesse Lingard, whom he reportedly views as a possible replacement for injured Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck.

“We are hoping his career has set sail once more and you could look at it and say, “There is a long-term problem and he isn’t going to get too many of these occasions” so why stand in his way?”

And unsurprisingly a few fans have got their own suspicions on the news, with many coming up with their own theories. I have got a broken wrist’. That will be more than enough.

“Roy has asked me how my injury is and how I feel”. “I started watching from the bench in the first 15 minutes thinking “this is what I need” – high intensity, pressure on both teams”.

Defoe, 33, has been in sparkling form this season, netting 15 Premier League goals, in a struggling Sunderland side, while Carroll, who has six goals in his last nine appearances, offers a physical presence.

“Roy likes him in the holding role because he is so comfortable on the ball but I think he can be really creative”.
