Arsenal vs. Barcelona ‘is the tie of the round’
Chelsea, which is enduring a torrid time in the Premier League, will face French league leader Paris St Germain in the knockout stages for the third year in succession after the French champion triumphed at the same stage last season and the London club had the upper hand in the quarterfinals the previous year.

After failing to capitalise on a seemingly kind draw against Monaco at the same stage of the competition last season, Arsenal were handed a glamour tie against an all-firing Barcelona fronted by fearsome trio Messi, Neymar and Suarez.
“We are certain to see a sporting spectacular”, Albert Soler, the Barcelona director, said.
“We did not want to play Paris or Juve – but this is more straight-forward”. I think most Arsenal fans would have wanted to avoid them but it’s up to us to put on a performance.
“But we all know that football is a very tight game, even more when it comes to the Champions League”.
Club secretary David Barnard said: “At least we know a lot about PSG”.
“We’ve got our own world-class players and certainly we’ll go in for this”.
PSG overcame Chelsea at the same stage last season before suffering a 5-1 aggregate loss to Barcelona, and Silva believes the draw is as good as his side could have hoped for.
Bayern ambassador Franz Beckenbauer, speaking at the draw, said his club’s clash with Juventus would be “a mouthwatering tie”.
He said on BT Sport: “We are delighted to be here for the 16th successive season”.
“We were in a very complicated group and we did very well to come through it without too much difficulty”.
Emilio Butragueño, Real Madrid’s director of institutional relations: “It’s a special competition and we all know what it means and what a source of motivation it is”.
By contrast, Manchester City will be happier with their draw against Dynamo Kiev – but there was a notable downside for their supporters as the game in Ukraine must be played behind closed doors.
Social media was awash with predictions of a swift knock-out for Arsene Wenger’s men as they look to reach the quarter-final stage for the first time since 2010.
“They are a strong side, but they like to play football and it is just 11 v 11”.
PSV Eindhoven will take on Atlético Madrid, and Benfica will be against Zenit St Petersburg.
The two newcomers to the knockout rounds were drawn together: Gent will host Wolfsburg first in Belgium.
The first legs of the ties, which were drawn at Uefa headquarters in Nyon, will take place on February 16/17 or 23/23 with the return matches on March 8/9 or 15/16.
The Gunners face the Catalans int he Champions League last sixteen.
“We have already beaten one English team so we are not afraid”, said Ankersen.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp will head back to Germany in the Europa League’s round of 32, though he avoided his old team.
