Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi will sign for Arsenal shortly after completing medicals.

Arsenal are priced at 9/4 to recruit the Algeria global before Wednesday’s deadline, ahead of Premier League rivals Everton (7/2) and Chelsea (7/1).

However, Wenger finally looks like adding to his squad with deals for Deportivo La Coruna’s Perez (£17 million, or S$30 million) and Valencia’s Mustafi (£35 million) expected in the coming days.

Speaking after Arsenal secured their first Premier League win of the season with a 3-1 victory at Watford, Wenger said that the deals for both players are all but done, with just the necessary paperwork still to be sorted out.

Shkodran Mustafi may be set to become one of the most expensive signings in Arsenal’s history but he will face a battle for a starting role from Rob Holding, Arsene Wenger has said. “I think it’s not easy and it shows some great potential and I am convinced that he will give a fight to all the centre backs”. “We have not got any plans for anyone else now”, Wenger told Sky Sports News. Maybe they’re both really good at integrating.

The 27-year-old striker has scored 17 goals in the La Liga last season and was courted by Everton manager, Ronald Koeman for a long time.

The pair, assuming all goes well during routine medical examinations, will take Arsenal’s summer spending to close to £100m.

The London club Arsenal have been facing some ups and downs in the transfer market. He is aware of the Premier League having spent two-and-a-half years with Everton as a teenager, but is yet to make his first appearance having only played in the Europa League for the Toffees. “I expected it to be easier than ever but it was more hard than ever”.

“Everybody has sat on their pounds until now”. I don’t know exactly when we will announce it. So I expect the next three days to be very, very busy.

When asked if it worries him to spend a lot, Wenger said: “No”.
