Arsene Wenger: Arsenal will sign striker if right player is available
The Gunners boss has been widely criticised by Arsenal fans for a lack of activity in the transfer market, with the £30million signing of Granit Xhaka in May not followed up by further big-name acquisitions.

The 24-year-old centre-back will be a welcomed addition to a backline that is without Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista, while Laurent Koscielny is being eased back into the season following his exploits with France at Euro 2016.
The club was linked with a move for Alexandre Lacazette in the summer but the deal seemed to have hit a dead end with the Lyon manager saying that Lacazette will not be going anywhere.
Patrick Vieira has blamed a lack of physicality and personality within Arsenal’s squad for their Premier League drought under Arsene Wenger. “This club has been built on that”.
Having last won the league title in 2004, the fans are getting impatient but Wenger insists he will only splash the cash if he can find the right players. Every game we play we want to win the game. This season will be very hard because of the top clubs spending a lot of money on transfers, it’s unbelievable. “It’s not so hard to attract players”.
“Everyone dug in – we were winning the first challenges, picking up the second balls and were very positive in our play. We are struggling to find the players we need”, said Wenger.

It was a hugely disappointing start to the new season last weekend as we let slip a one-goal lead to go down 4-3 to a very beatable Liverpool team at the Emirates Stadium. Yes the amount of money being spent is unbelievable, but if Arsenal want to compete amongst the best, then surely we have to act accordingly in turn with what the best do both on the pitch and off the pitch financially. We have many examples in England of teams that spend a huge amount of money looking for central defenders. “It’s more hard but it still has the same importance to make the right decisions”. “I don’t think it was a penalty”. “The flawless example is Ajax – you see all the old players working for the club, on the field, in the office – the door is always open for them – but Arsenal don’t do it and I don’t know why”. The main thing on building the club is based on the transfer policy.
