Arsene Wenger comments on Man Utd’s signing of Paul Pogba again

“United are a different club to when I was there”.

United lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in the Community Shield win over Leicester, a formation in which Pogba failed to impress during France’s Euro 2016 run to the final.

“He can and he will get better, but now he is as strong as two years ago”.

He returns to United on a five-year contract, with an option to extend the deal for an additional season.

The latest of manager Jose Mourinho’s new signings follows defender Eric Bailly, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and mid fielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan into United.

“Not that it hasn’t excited me, but the quality of the football hasn’t been of the highest level”. “I just came back to Carrington”.

The Manchester clubs have dominated the transfer market in England so far this summer, and the bookies fancy them for a one-two in the Premier League table, making City slight favourites.

“I don’t know what system Mourinho will play, but even if he uses Pogba as a deeper midfielder he can give him a licence”. That’s good for the league.

Pogba won four consecutive Serie A titles during his time with Juventus. It is a reason to be proud with the dimension of the club that can do that and can attract players of this dimension.

In the aftermath, the Spaniard pledged his future to Manchester United by signing a new four year deal with wages reported to be in the region of £200,000-a-week.

The United faithful will have plenty to look forward to if Pogba can replicate his dynamic play at the Premier League. They had broken the British record 12 times, most recently with Angel Di Maria’s £59.7 million signing from Real Madrid in 2014, but never the global mark.

What areas does Paul Pogba need to improve? I’ve played with him myself at Manchester United and he was an obvious talent. “For all that Paul Pogba is now the most expensive player in football history, Manchester United have not gambled”, Carragher wrote in his column for the Daily Mail.
