Arsene Wenger confirms Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi have passed Arsenal medicals

As shown in the video below courtesy of Sky Sports, Mustafi has made five more league appearances than his compatriot over the last two years, and trumps him in nearly every department. “Now we can integrate them into the squad”.

It will now be interesting to see what roles that both players have in the Arsenal team moving forward.

The duo were in London on Friday to undergo medicals which have now been completed with just the final paperwork to be concluded before the deals can be ratified.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 victory at Watford, Wenger said: “We have bought two players, Mustafi and Perez. I think it’s not easy and it shows some great potential and I am convinced that he will give a fight to all the centre backs”. “We don’t have any plans for anyone else now”.

He’ll hope that Mustafi can play his part in making them a more solid defensive unit to help lead them to silverware this season, but time will tell as to how smart a move it proves to be.

Holding was brought in from League One side Bolton for a fee of £2m this summer and the 20-year-old has found himself starting in central defence in each of Arsenal’s first three fixtures.

Perez seems like more of a panic buy with the Deportivo La Coruna striker costing $22.5 million after scoring 17 times in La Liga last season.

We’ll have full posts on each player once the dot com has confirmation and photos and everything, but knowing Arsène, there’s basically no way he’s publicly speak on this unless the deals were 100% completed.

“It was a odd transfer market – I expected it to be easier than ever but it was more hard than ever”, Wenger said.

Perez offers a different playing style to Giroud as he relies more on his pace than size, and can be unsafe outside the area as well as in the box.
