Arsenal have been without Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky in their opening two games of the season, with the trio all making progress in their respective returns from injury.

Wilshere was expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks after suffering a hairline fracture of his left ankle following a heavy tackle in training on August 1.

“It’s surprising because when he doesn’t have the fitness he has the mental resources”.

Roy Hodgson will name his squad to face San Marino and Switzerland at lunchtime on Tuesday and he was keen to name Wilshere.

Wenger said, “From the Palace game we have no injuries and we have still Wilshere, Welbeck and Rosicky to come back“.

“After the international break he has a chance, but not before”.

Mesut Ozil has also been in the news recently, with a reported loan move to Besiktas mooted, but Wenger played down the German’s exit and insisted that he was happy: “I feel Mesut is now completely committed to the club”. And perhaps the fact that the manager was more specific on this player tells us that he really knows what is going on and is confident that the medical team are on top of it.
