Arsene Wenger admitted his side were not physically prepared for the rigours of a game against top Premier League opponents after he watched Arsenal subside to a 4-3 loss to Liverpool.
“As long as Wenger keeps blaming external factors nothing will change”, Verheiijen continued.

“That’s part of it and of course that’s not pleasant but we have shown in the past we have the mental strength to deal with that and bounce back. I knew immediately it was a mistake by me”.

“We started the game not so brightly after we thought we had quite a good pre-season but it’s always hard coming to Arsenal”. Football being football, we maybe got a bit complacent at 4-1 but saw it out at the end.
