Arsene Wenger’s odds tumble after opening day defeat
Wenger had to field an inexperienced centre-back pairing of Calum Chambers and debutant Rob Holding, with Laurent Koscielny given an extended rest after reaching the Euro 2016 final with France little more than a month ago.

Arsene Wenger admitted his side were not physically prepared for the rigours of a game against top Premier League opponents after he watched Arsenal subside to a 4-3 loss to Liverpool.
“As long as Wenger keeps blaming external factors nothing will change”, Verheiijen continued.
The Gunners let slip a one-goal lead as the visitors raced 4-1 ahead thanks to some fantastic goals and while Arsenal pulled it back to 3-4, they couldn’t find the equaliser so slumped to an opening day defeat for the second consecutive campaign.
Wenger’s men did fight back to restore respectability to the scoreline however.
“That’s part of it and of course that’s not pleasant but we have shown in the past we have the mental strength to deal with that and bounce back. I knew immediately it was a mistake by me”.
“I am happy not only because I scored two goals but because the team played well and we got the three points we wanted”.
It would not be Emre Can without an outpouring of love for the midfielder with the best hair in the Premier League.
“We lost this game for many reasons”, Wenger said. A deserved win. I’ve no idea about the title.
In the first-half against Arsenal on Sunday, Liverpool were fairly lacklustre – which has been largely forgotten because of what we did in the second-half.
The Brazil worldwide cancelled out Theo Walcott’s opener at the Emirates, sending Jurgen Klopp’s side on their way to victory in their opening Premier League game of the season.
“The second one is that physically we are not capable of maintaining the level, because not all the players have the same level of preparation”.
Liverpool held out for only a second victory in their last 16 trips to the Gunners, but Henderson insists he and his teammates must maintain their control of the game throughout to make sure of more comfortable wins.

“We started the game not so brightly after we thought we had quite a good pre-season but it’s always hard coming to Arsenal”. Football being football, we maybe got a bit complacent at 4-1 but saw it out at the end.
