Arsene Wenger has continued to lavish praise on Petr Cech claiming his summer signing has brought a level of experience that boosts confidence across the squad.

The Gunners did beat Bayern Munich at home in the group stage and Wenger feels that game proves that his team can go toe-to-toe with the big boys of European football.

Arsenal striker Giroud has scored six times in 16 Premier League appearances so far this season.

“It’s good for everybody in football all over the world to see teams who are not on the biggest budget at the start, that they can compete as well”, he added. “Of course that’s very positive and they’ve shown another fantastic performance on Monday night”.

“I think that Leicester finished the last round still at the top of the table, Manchester United are just a few points behind us”.

“In two or three games I was not happy about the way we defended, but in a lot of games we did very well”.

“Not only that you score one goal or make one good save, you want to set the example that this is not a one-off season or that you’re a one-game wonder”.

‘Next Monday they have a big, big game when they host Manchester City. “But some achievements you cannot ignore and to be in a position where I can break the all-time clean-sheet record is something that I never thought I would be able to do”.

“It is a massive game [on Monday]”.

Nevertheless, forward Raheem Sterling insists finishing top of the pile domestically is the priority for the 2011-12 and 2013-14 Premier League champions, who were last-gasp 2-1 winners against Swansea City in their previous fixture.
