Arsene Wenger willing to shoulder the blame for mounting Arsenal injuries

Cazorla played on against Norwich City last Sunday despite taking a heavy knock in the early stages of the second half.

The Arsenal boss wants the Premier League and the clubs to rethink camera positions after Alexis Sanchez was pushed into a trap by Norwich’s Ryan Bennett at Carrow Road last weekend.

Arsenal have a number of key players injured at the moment and questions have been raised about Wenger’s rationale in choosing not to bolster his squad in the summer after signing Petr Cech from Chelsea.

Wenger said “we don’t know how long they will be out for” when discussing the injuries on Thursday, but may provide an update at his Friday morning media conference to preview Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland.

Wenger is now facing an injury crisis with 10 Arsenal first-team players potentially out of this weekend’s game against Norwich.

Questions had been asked in advance of the trip to Norfolk about the amount of football Sanchez had played without a break, with Wenger revealing that the Chile forward had felt his hamstring during the 3-0 Champions League victory over Dinamo Zagreb. “I said, “If you have the slightest muscle problem tell me, I don’t play you.’ He said, ‘I have no problem at all”.

“First of all it’s risky to have a camera there”, said Wenger yesterday.

“For example, Cazorla and Coquelin are traumatic injuries”.

Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla became the two latest names to be added to a lengthy injury list and will be missing when the rejuvenated Black Cats visit the Emirates Stadium.

If I have to take the blame I do.

Sunderland are bidding for a third successive win and clean sheet today and with the exception of the 6-2 thrashing at Everton, they have conceded just one goal from open play since Allardyce came in.

He also said that listening to players was something all managers have to do but it can only be used to help them make the right decisions, the final buck stopping with them.

“We prepared ourselves to go through periods like that and I’m convinced the players are ready”.

“You can not say the player is a super player, and when he doesn’t play that you don’t suffer”.

Wenger said: “The surgery has now happened”. I believe we are in there and it’s how well we respond.
