Arun Jaitley sues Arvind Kejriwal over DDCA allegation
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley sued Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for 100 million rupees (10 crores) on Monday for slander, escalating a battle between the ruling party and the opposition that has stalled key reform legislation in parliament.

Jaitley has also filed a criminal defamation complaint before a trial court against Kejriwal and the five other AAP leaders for making false allegations about financial irregularities in DDCA.
Union minister Venkaiah Naidu quoted Modi as having said that Jaitley will come through “with flying colours”.
The Congress members however began raising slogans, prompting Jaitley to question: “Do I assume they have nothing to say?”
Kejriwal claimed it was within the government’s powers to set up a Commission of Inquiry to probe alleged corruption in the state’s cricket body.
Mr. Arun Jaitley, as the Finance Minister, has no role in that.
“Issue notice to the defendants (AAP leaders)”.
BJP has rallied around Jaitley as Congress and AAP have tried to corner him over the issue and demanded his resignation.
Jaitley said the allegations levelled by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders will cause “irreversible damage to his reputation”. He said the Congress did the same with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Chief Ministers Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan as well as Shivraj Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh. Kejriwal said the session would discuss the “DDCA scam and CBI raids on the Delhi Secretariat”.
Bilkulonline.com, New Delhi, Dec 21: The Congress on Monday demanded Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s resignation for alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) during his tenure as chairman.
Accusing Jaitley of ignoring corruption during his tenure as DDCA president, AAP spokesperson Ashutosh said, “The whole world should know that Jaitley has overlooked corruption and now he is trying to paint himself as a saint”.
Azad ultimately may have got to keep the Darbhanga seat but never ever forgot the treatment that was meted out to him by Jaitley.
In his petition, a copy of which is with Bar & Bench, Jaitley has alleged that the statements of the accused amount to criminal contempt punishable under Sections 500 and 501 of the Indian Penal Code.

At the parliamentary party, no reference was made to similar charges made by BJP MP Kirti Azad, who was not present in the meeting on Tuesday.
