Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, reacting to the incident on Twitter, described the incident as “shocking”. The demonstration was attended by AAP MLAs as well.
Kejriwal spoke at the end of a two-day special session of the assembly convened to discuss issues related to the three municipal corporations in Delhi that are controlled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
AAP legislator Saurabh Bhardwaj said the development was merely a “coincidence” and that different states keep going for elections at different times. The AAP allocated much more funds to the civic bodies than Congress and BJP did when they were in power. “Even God will fail to construct a house without paying bribe in Delhi”, the CM said.
“For the one and a half years, the Kejriwal Government has done absolutely nothing for the Dalits”.
Bharti said that if we see assets of the BJP councillors whose salary is Rs 3,000 per month, we will get to know surprising facts about their earnings, alleging that MCDs have become “the mother of all corrupt departments”. He also demanded protection from the BJP councillors.
“I will give you the report of the Delhi Jal Board fact-finding committee report tomorrow itself”.
Kejriwal hit back and said his government was not in a position to investigate the issue as the Centre had taken over the ACB using “paramilitary forces”.
Gupta yesterday created uproar in the House by perching himself atop a desk of the Assembly protesting against the opposition. “They are like “pati and patni” (husband and wife)”.

Speaker Ram Niwas Goel termed Gupta’s action as “unprecedented” and “unparliamentary”, Gupta said he was forced to take the step as the treasury benches have been muzzling his voice.
