In an interesting and unexpected move, Lifetime has decided not to move forward with a fifth season of its fan-favorite soapy summer drama Devious Maids almost a month after its now series finale aired.
First developed by ABC, Devious Maids moved to Lifetime after the pilot, and the first season finale brought in a respectable 3million viewers.
No season 5! While the mystery hovering for several weeks, the United States television network Lifetime has decided not to renew Devious Maids for a fifth season.
According to Deadline, the network has opted to not give the series from executive producers Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria a fifth season despite that Marisol cliffhanger, with ratings more than likely serving as the primary factor.
The drama series is produced by ABC Studios and stars Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem, Grant Show, Brianna Brown, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Brett Cullen, Drew Van Acker and Susan Lucci. When it first aired, figures peaked at around three million, compared to less than one million by series four.
Ratings dropped steadily, however, with just under a million tuning in for the fourth season.
Speaking about working on “Devious Maids”, she previously said: “I’m into everything – casting, actor contracts, locations, marketing and promotion, who we’re going to kill, who we’re going to keep – and I love it all”.
Lifetime has fired the help.
