Asamoah Gyan regrets his ‘unfortunate’ early Sunderland exit
The Ghana worldwide had been expected to sign on with the Royals on a season-long loan deal from Chinese Super League club Shanghai SIPG.

A local website, Get Reading, reports that the 30-year old was set for a loan spell from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, but due to the fact that he needed eight weeks to reach full fitness, Reading would not take the gamble on him.
He spent two seasons with the Black Cats before heading to Al Ain in Abu Dhabi where he scored a staggering 73 goals in 65 games – including 44 goals in one season.
The Ghana legend then went on to dismiss ideas that he’s exclusively focusing on a top-flight return to English football saying: “I heard about Sunderland and Fulham but we will see what happens”.
And reflecting on his Sunderland exit, Gyan continued: “Sunderland is a good club”.
Gyan has been capped 95 times for Ghana since making his global debut 13 years ago. The people around me are trying to benefit me.
Gyan first began his career in 2003 with Ghanaian Premier League club Liberty Professionals. It was unfortunate I didn’t play for many years there.
Staying with the club for two seasons, he netted on ten occasions in 34 Premier League matches. I just want to prove myself again in England.
Gyan has been linked with a return to Europe, but it remains to be seen if he can still secure another move after failing his medical with Jaap Stam’s club.
He has represented his home team in three World Cups (2006, 2010 and 2014) and with four goals is the top African goalscorer in the history of the competition.

Maybe it’s the hyper-real glow of the astroturf, but we can’t stop looking at these images of the new football pitch Asamoah Gyan built for his alma mater, Accra Academy.
