Three years after a merger with a St. Louis-based company, Ministry Health Care, which has hospitals and clinics in Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota, changed its name Tuesday to Ascension.
As part of this national integration, St. John Providence in metro Detroit and Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester will be among the first to adopt the unified name of Ascension.
Ascension Health, which was founded in 1999, has 2,500 sites of care, including 141 hospitals and more than 30 senior living facilities in 24 states and the District of Columbia. Ascension will now have greater price power meaning prices could go up. Ascension is launching the rebranding first in MI and Wisconsin.
“We have an obligation to provide high-quality, affordable care, and quality outcomes, with an enhanced experience for our patients and our providers”, said Anthony R. Tersigni, EdD, president and CEO of Ascension. The move is expected to afford patients easier navigation of care, says Nick Ragone, chief marketing and communications officer for Ascension.
However, the number of health care providers, including doctors and nurses, is going to grow, Gallucci said.
“Ascension now provides our caregivers with more support and resources to serve our patients and our community even better”, her statement continued.
Ascension employs 23-thousand people in Wisconsin, with total annual revenues of three-point-five-billion dollars – and Aurora Health Care is the state’s largest system, with 31-thousand employee and nearly five-billion dollars in annual revenues.
In fiscal year 2015, Ascension provided almost $2 billion in care for people living in poverty and in other community-benefit programs, the release states.
