Asdrubal Cabrera’s walk-off homer powers Mets past Phillies
Of course, any team can beat any other team on any given night in this game, so victories aren’t guaranteed even with such a soft schedule. You’ve got 15 guys down there, why not use them all? The 29-year-old will be facing the Mets for the fifth time this season, falling to 1-2 after yielding nine runs on 14 hits – including four homers – over his last two encounters (10 innings). When you’re in a postseason race like the Mets, those are the hits fans remember.

Cabrera exited Friday’s game against the Phillies with an apparent injury to his leg, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Reyes, who rejoined the Mets this summer, had never homered to tie a game in the ninth inning or later. Instead, they played on.
All joy felt by NY fans after that moment vanished in the top of the 11th, though, as the Phillies grabbed an 8-6 lead.
Philadelphia went ahead 8-6 in the 11th when A.J. Ellis hit an RBI single off Jeurys Familia and Jim Henderson (2-2) walked Maikel Franco with the bases loaded. Montero allowed two runs in the first inning that day while throwing 37 pitches, but Collins let him hit in the second inning with two on and two outs and the Mets trailing, 2-1. Ynoa has allowed 10 runs on 13 hits in 10 innings this season, but has yet to surrender a homer in seven games.
Well, it happened Thursday.
Jose Reyes hit a tying two-run homer in the ninth inning and Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run drive in an 11th-inning comeback to lift the New York Mets to a dramatic 9-8 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night that kept them tied for the NL wild-card lead.
“He threw me a BP (batting practice) fastball or changeup, I’m not sure”, Joseph said. “And the offense got it going”. It carried over the wall for the walk-off.
Look at that bat flip. Think Cabrera knew it was gone? “They have a lefty for every righty I bring in and vice versa and that’s what makes it so hard”. But the win eased some of the sting in a game swayed by a bold decision in the second. He tied the game with a single in the fifth and gave the Mets a short-lived lead with a double in the seventh. They had a 17.5 percent chance to win after Jose Reyes singled to put the tying run on base later in the inning, which brought Cabrera to the plate.
The Mets lost to the Braves on Wednesday when Atlanta center fielder Ender Inciarte made a ridiculous catch, robbing NY outfielder Yoenis Cespedes of a would-be walk-off home run to end the game.
INDIANS 5, ROYALS 2: Carlos Santana’s three-run homer pushed Cleveland over Kansas City and nearer to its first AL Central championship since 2007.
That they emerged as 10-5 victors over the Phillies only added to the mounting evidence that while they might not have enough healthy bodies for a serious run in October, they are not lacking in fortitude.
Leonys Martin, Mariners: Two-run walk-off homer against the Athletics on May 24 (+0.86 WPA).

Certainly not when the Mets, on the brink of losing a fourth straight game to an inferior National League East opponent, get bailed out the way that did by the 10-year veteran’s walk-off, three-run home run in the 11th inning of Thursday night’s thriller against the Philadelphia Phillies (69-84) at Citi Field.
