ASEAN vow to combat terrorism in all its forms

“Indeed one single nation in South Asia is spreading these agents of terror in countries of our region”, prime minister Modi said in an apparent reference to Pakistan.

Also, underlining that fighting corruption and black money is key to effective financial governance, Modi asked G20 leaders to act to eliminate safe havens for economic offenders, unconditionally extradite money launders and end excessive banking secrecy that hide the corrupt.

According to the sources, when PM Modi invited President Obama to visit India after he demits office, the latter said that he would welcome any opportunity to visit India.

The Prime Minister will attend the 11th East Asia Summit on Thursday on whose sidelines, he will hold bilateral meetings with several leaders.

He also said that India as already implemented 54 activities mentioned in the ASEAN-India Plan of Action.

Addressing the Summit for the third time, Modi said he was “delighted to renew close bonds of friendship” with ASEAN.

India, being a founding member of the EAS, is committed to strengthening the EAS and making it more effective for dealing with contemporary challenges.
