Ash Vs. Evil Dead: renewed for second season

“Are you a fan of the cheesy, humorous 1980’s movies The Evil Dead?”. Ash no longer is working at S-Mart, and is now living in a trailer park and working for an electronics store, trying to do the most minimal work possible while trying to also come on to, and get with, the most women possible.

Four days prior to its first season debut, Ash vs. Evil Dead has been officially granted a second season pickup from Starz.

Starz was eager to commission a second season of the horror comedy, which has lit up the internet in recent weeks. If you’re anxious that the ratings might suffer due to broadcasting on Halloween night, remember that The Walking Dead also premiered on Halloween and it still managed to be the most-watched premiere in AMC’s history. Speaking to Total Film, Starz’s Carmi Zlotnik revealed that the show features in their long-term plans.

Director Sam Raimi and executive producer Rob Tapert are reuniting with Campbell on the project alongside Lucy Lawless, the former star of Xena: Warrior Princess. So far, all Starz would tell us about her character Ruby is that she’s “a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks”.

Campbell: It’s 70/30 in horror’s favor.

Raimi agreed that it’s “really important that we fulfill our obligations to the fans who’ve asked us to make this either as a movie or a series” because “they have certain expectations”. However, that didn’t stop me from asking the cast of Ash vs. Evil Deadto share their picks while promoting the show. They gave me the freedom to do that. And so we needed a human being that had some heart and soul and some gravitas and some threat to them when she wanted to pull it out.

The actor will reprise his iconic role as Ash Williams on the show. You could have a heyday with his PTSD.

And who knows? The films may not be done yet. He’s the ultimate anti-hero. “And all people would say to me was, ‘Yeah, but when are you going to make another “Evil Dead” film?'” When the situation calls for it, Ash will easily stand up at the plate and unleash his Deadite-killing skills. “[But] I don’t think I was ever really over it. You get a little exhausted of not being able to answer them, because they go, when is another movie coming?”

When the camera pulls back, we see that Ash is fastening a corset around his middle-aged belly.

The anticipation was palpable in the theater as the assembled army of “Dead” fans (many in costume) waited for their first fresh glimpse of Ash Williams on screen in 23 years. For the better part of the past decade, he has featured as Sam Axe in Burn Notice, which ended with its seventh season in 2013.
