Ashley Judd is going back to school to get a PhD
In 2009, she enrolled in graduate school and was later awarded her Masters in public administration with an emphasis in gender equality from Harvard. The actress, who spoke at the DNC this year about her decision to have an abortion after she was raped, says her goal is “to make the world a better place”.

Still, Judd’s acceptance into the competitive program at Berkeley, which only accepts a handful of students every year, shouldn’t be that much of a surprise.
Ashley Judd announced she is going back to school to get a Ph.D.in public policy.
Judd completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky, where she majored in French and minored in anthropology, art history, theater and women’s studies. “Sometimes I’m really excited, sometimes I’m like ‘What have I gotten myself into?!'” the Golden Globe-nominated actress revealed.
“I intend to make the very best of my time at Berkeley”, Judd said.
Politics has increasingly become a preoccupation for the actress. She recently was appointed an United Nations Population Fund Goodwill Ambassador. Her campaign, however, never materialised, and she confirmed her decision not to run on Twitter.
“I have made a decision to take the next step in my academic journey”, Judd, 48, said. And yes, my dad will be coming to classes with me again. Yes, I have a backpack, and yes, I have a locker. “Her registered ‘psychological support” dog, Shug, ‘will be coming!’ “I am now officially a doctoral student at the University of California in Berkeley”. “I know where to get good coffee”.

Along with her studies, Judd will have to juggle publicity for her upcoming film Barry, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
