Police said their investigation has found that someone approached the boy and shot him in the upper chest.
The mother says she initially thought the boy was hit by a BB, but doctors determined after he was taken to a hospital that he was struck by a.22-caliber bullet.
“Seems like everyone over there was panicked”, said Alonzo Moore who lives on Caboose Court.
He was then taken by helicopter to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
“We don’t anticipate any charges being filed against the mother of the child”, said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. “I just want them to know whoever did this to my son did not deserve this you need to turn yourself in”.
Police are trying to find the person who fired that shot.
