As battery technology continues to evolve, hybrid and all-electric vehicles have become increasingly popular.
James Bond, the dashing 007 himself, has nearly always driven an Aston Martin. Will James Bond ride an electric Aston Martin in the future?
The 102-year-old company is clocking losses and is planning to diversify production including with electric cars, British media reported.
Palmer has also said that he won’t let the brand follow the now popular trend of downsizing engines, since the luxury carmaker is renowned for its iconic V12 power plants.
“We’re talking about an electric Aston Martin with between 800 and 1,000 horsepower – imagine having all that torque on demand”, commented Palme, a 35-year industry veteran that says the new models would stick to the “power, beauty and soul” credo of the company.

Despite Tesla polishing up their image, electric cars aren’t the sexiest cars to drive, but that could change very soon. At a Bloomberg conference in London Monday (Oct. 12), Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer said that the auto company is working on an all-electric version of its Rapide sports vehicle, which it plans to have available by the end of 2017. Aston Martin’s boss thinks that the switch over to electricity is now inevitable for the entire industry as it represents the most plausible solution to the ever-stricter emission standards and keeping at the same time their customers satisfied. God forbid. You’ve got to do something radical. “It gives you that torque”.
