Aston Villa 0-0 City: Villans Hold Pellegrini’s Men At Villa Park

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Brad Guzan’s performance for Aston Villa against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. The hosts will be happy with that while City will reflect on points dropped at Villa Park.

Delph, then Villa captain, was heavily linked with City at the end of last season but he appeared to rule out a move when he spoke out to “set the record straight” and say, “I’m not leaving”.

“I am confident, it’s 28 games to go”.

But with a new manager, form gets thrown out the window – new tactics, new ideas, and new effort can turn Villa into a very different team.

As expected from a team under new management, Villa began the contest with great vigour and objective, but the first real threat came when City’s Aleksandar Kolarov was released by Sterling on the overlap and his cross flashed across the face of goal.

“A clean sheet against such a good team, such good players means that we should be a little bit more confident next time”.

“We have an injury to our striker (Bony) at the beginning of the game which is important in this kind of game, but we had chances to win it”.

Aston Villa have lost five and won none of their last six Premier League games at Villa Park and failed to score in four of those games.

Villa break but can’t quite make it work they do however gain a corner but Kompany takes charge and clears.

“He is a young and experienced manager, having been at an important club like Lyon. So, it is good for him to have minutes and good for the national squad also”.

“He is a professional player and he is playing with us”. I know that he wants to play because he was a long time injured.

The midlands club have scored just 10 goals – the second lowest in the division – this season and conceded 20 and Garde, who has Micah Richards back after a ban, insisted the key to success is simple.

“I know that in January it’s a transfer window”. Absolutely hilarious and I honestly believe it helped the team get over the line.

“Not only that we have the time to win games”.

“We ended up signing 12 players, although there were a lot more players given to the committee than 12, and we ended up with what we ended up with”.

“We will see in the way Sergio improves this week but I think there is a chance he can be ready after the break.

Today was not enough – we can do better”, the German said.

“Of course it is 11 players with individuals, but it is a collective game so you have to be smart, to be clever when you play”.
