Aston Villa vs. Swansea City: Hutton prepared to sacrifice style

Swansea today moved to deny that Monk missed training by posting pictures of their manager taking a session at the club’s training ground.

Villa, who are 19th after their worst-ever Premier League start, go into the game on the back of a 2-0 loss at Chelsea.

Rangel told the club’s official website: “It was a frustrating night for us where we are not at the level we should be performing at”. There’s been nothing in a lot of them. The Gunners haven’t lost at home against Everton in the best part of two decades and I find it hard to see beyond a home win with a thriving defence capable of dealing with the threat posed by the visitors. “We go into the game with plenty of desire and determination, but we do need to get that extra confidence boost which three points bring”.

“Now though it’s about getting a win”.

“We’d take a poor performance and the win – 100 per cent”.

Losing to Villa is unlikely to result in the immediate removal of Monk, who has a good rapport with the supporters and can be credited with the progression of the team over the past 12 months. I’d think that he’s had great input into that process; otherwise Villa would just be giving him excuses for failure.

“We’re very committed and our strength is our unity, and it is my job is to make sure we get training right and we’re fully focused”.

“From my perspective, and from the club’s and the players’, we don’t listen to things like that”. Despite the two outfits possessing several flair players, expect this match to be scrappy, and we are backing Swansea to edge it late on. “These are good players”.

Gil himself has been in and out of the Villa side so far this term after picking up a knock in pre-season, having started three consecutive games on the bench before being restored to the line-up for the trip to Chelsea.

– The Villans have failed to score in four of their last five Premier League home games.

Aston Villa play host to Swansea City on Saturday afternoon on the back of eight Premier League games without a win and with manager Tim Sherwood reportedly fighting to keep his job in the West Midlands.

The brothers transferred to the English Premier League in the summer transfer window.
