Without today’s fix, the Russian supply ship, named Progress, would not be able to dock with the space station as scheduled on Wednesday.
“Good news: it appears to have reached the work site”, astronaut Mike Hopkins said a short time later.
If you are a skywatcher, you can look up at night to spot the moon and many other planets of the solar system, but do you know how to spot International Space Station (ISS) which has been orbiting over earth’s surface at a speed of about 7.66 kilometers per second. The problem hit after the transporter moved only four inches along the truss and then jammed. The walk from the International Space Station ended around 11:01 a.m. EST, according to a release.
With their primary task completed, Kelly and Kopra split up to work on separate tasks of routing cables along the space station. They also retrieved tools that had been in a toolbox on the outside of the station, so they can be used for future work. The decision to send him into space came after the UK Government started to contribute funds to Esa’s ISS operations in 2012.has helped two of his fellow crewmen carry out a spacewalk – but failed in an attempt to phone his parents from the International Space Station (ISS).
“This is a team effort”, Kelly said.
It was the third career spacewalk for Kelly, who is nine months into a yearlong mission to investigate how long-duration spaceflight affects the human body.

The Progress MS/62P cargo ship had already launched from Kazakhstan when Kelly and Kopra swiftly planned and executed the spacewalk.
