Astronaut Tim Peake: Life in space is absolutely spectacular
The mission will attempt to explore life outside Earth as well as observe how the human body can survive space travel. He will have to carry out several experiments, ranging from tests on certain metals, growing blood vessel cells and protein crystals in a microgravity environment, simulating atomic structures, and charting areas in the brain as they adapt to stressful situations.

Struggling to conquer weightlessness, British astronaut Tim Peake described his “spectacular life” in space during a live video-link with journalists gathered in Cologne in Germany. And of course with the future space X-vehicle that come up, there will be even more science onboard that, too.
The first Briton on board the International Space Station, Tim Peake, has been giving his initial impressions of space during a news conference.
Many commentators on social media were not happy that Major Peake was getting all the attention while Helen Sharman’s achievements were being overlooked. But I am amazed how quickly my body has adapted.
Describing his first 48 hours in space, he said it had been busy but incredible and amidst the busy schedule, he also find time to “find his tea”.
He said: “It does take a while to become proficient, and it also takes a while to get orientated”.
Cadets and Agents celebrate patron Tim Peak’s mission to the International Space Station during the first phase of the Astro Science Challenge.
“Working out here is a chance to listen to some music, to really get some good exercise which you feel you want because you’re floating all the time up here and your muscles are relaxed”. He also revealed the space station had a distinctive smell, “kind of metallic, but not chemically or bad in any way”. “It is quite distinctive”, he said.
Referring to station commander Scott Kelly, he said: “What makes a good leader?”
Sir Elton had tweeted a good luck message to the astronaut on Tuesday: “From one Rocket Man to another, good luck @astro-timpeake with your launch and mission!”
“Thank you”, he wrote on Thursday morning.
“We are very excited about the Star Wars movie”.

“What a spectacular place to watch Star Wars”, he added.
