Last night in Houston, Texas, Mike Fiers of the Houston Astros threw a no hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The day after Fiers threw a no-hitter through eight innings against the Dodgers – the 11th in the Astros’ franchise history – Scott Kazmir pitched six solid innings to help send Los Angeles to defeat once again. Fiers then reportedly informed his manager, A.J. Hinch, that there was no way he was going to come out of the game despite having already exceeded his career high in pitches by seven.
In the ninth, after Rollins’s deep fly caused the righthander’s heart to skip a beat, Fiers got Utley to hit a more conventional fly-out to right. Cole Hamels with Philadelphia, San Francisco’s Chris Heston and Washington’s Max Scherzer even have thrown no-hitters this season.
Fiers, acquired with star outfielder Carlos Gomez by the AL West-leading Astros from Milwaukee at last month’s trade deadline, had never thrown a complete game in 58 starts over five seasons. It could’ve been that; it could’ve been something else.
Two outs in the ninth Dodgers Justin Turner batting, Mike Fiers tossed five straight fastballs to get his final strikeout of the game. The Dodgers (67-55) will attempt to avert the sweep of this interleague series with left-hander Clayton Kershaw (10-6) on the mound in the finale on Sunday.Kazmir, whose pitch efficiency has been an issue in August, retired the first nine batters and appeared on pace to match the productivity of his first two starts with the Astros, when he worked 14 2/3 scoreless innings. To diminish his accomplishment, even if he used a dab of pine tar or Stickum or some other extralegal gripping substance is silly. Dodgers CF Joc Pederson, with an OPS. “You feel the emotion of everything you’ve been through in your life”, he said. Valbuena said. “He tries to sometimes hit a home run and he know what he can do at home plate”. He may also garner some MVP consideration since he’s 7-0 with a 1.21 ERA in 12 starts following a loss, helping the Dodgers go 10-2 in those games.
Jake Marisnick gave the Astros a 2-0 lead in the second with a two-run homer off the left center facade.
Altuve grabbed the run right back, and a personal achievement along with it, in the bottom of the sixth. He allowed seven hits and a walk while striking out six.
CUBS 5, BRAVES 3 Kris Bryant and Miguel Montero had consecutive RBI doubles in the sixth as host Chicago extended Shelby Miller’s winless skid to 17 games with a victory over Atlanta. When you get hit like that, myself I get hit many times in my head and I’m not upset about this. He walked four in the first inning before Toronto scored two runs on Shane Victorino’s first error in two years. First, he reached double digits in home runs for the first time in his career. He accomplished this by only allowing 1 hit through a very dominant shutout performance.
In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Madison Bumgarner homered in his second straight start and struck out six in 6-1/3 innings to lift San Francisco over Pittsburgh.
Pollock scored three runs and Yasmany Tomas added a solo shot for the Diamondbacks.
Hitter’s park, pitcher’s park, a neutral zone; good pitching doesn’t care what the atmosphere looks like or who’s in the starting lineup. Saturday, Dodgers players weren’t in a mood to discuss the incident, and seemed more upset about their hitting than anything Fiers might have been hiding in his glove.
