Asus ZenBook 3 Packs Core i7 CPU in MacBook-Size Body
The reason Asus has been able to create such a thin and light laptop is a new “aerospace-grade aluminum alloy” which the company says is 40 percent stronger than aluminum typically used in laptops. That alloy has a spun metal design on the top and the notebook comes in royal blue, rose gold, and quartz grey. It is also equipped with fast charging technology through the USB-C port that can charge the device for up to 60% in just 49 minutes.

The 12.5-inch Full HD offers display has been fitted with the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for extra durability and protection against damage. Pricing for the ZenBook 3, which Lenovo didn’t announce today, could therefore be a key differentiator, especially if it comes in somewhere between or below the Macbook’s $1,599 and the HZ550’s $1,699 price tags. Next to the keyboard is a glass trackpad with palm-rejection technology, Smart Gestures, and handwriting support.
All these new devices are specifically built to take advantage of Windows 10 features, so they come with Windows Hello support thanks to the built-in camera or fingerprint reader.
In terms of battery power, Asus claims the laptop can last for up to nine hours of usage.
The Zenbook 3 is slated to launch in the third quarter of 2016.
Mr Shih described the ZenBook 3 as “the best of both” MacBook and MacBook Air. The folks over at Asus have done pretty well for themselves in the world of notebooks before, with their Zenbook series, and this time around at Computex 2016 that is happening in Taiwan, Asus has revealed their next-generation ZenBook model that will be known as the ZenBook 3. The Core i5 model with 512GB SSD variant will retail for $1,499 later this year, while the entry-level model will cost $999 and offer a Core i5 CPU, 256GB SSD, and 4GB of RAM. But here’s the kicker – unlike the Macbook, the Zenbook 3 does not feature a Core m processor (like its own predecessor) but a relatively high end Intel Core i5/i7 parts. And while the MacBook weighs in at an incredibly lightweight 2.03 pounds, the ZenBook 3 is just a tiny smidge lighter at an even 2.00 pounds.
