Created to fix the pain from downloading an app you will use only once, Instant Apps run on Google’s servers instead of your phone. Only the parts you need get sent to your phone on an as-needed basis. If it works as Google envisions, without lags and other annoyances, users won’t have to spend a few minutes downloading and installing that app and having it take up valuable space on the phone.

To enthusiastic whoops and cheers from developers, Pichai & Co. unfurled Google Home, a small, voice-activated speaker that helps manage home-entertainment systems and smart devices, as well as Google searches.
According to the technology giant, the new Google Assistant software will be able to offer proactive suggestions such as restaurant or movie recommendations as users have text message conversations or interact with Google services directly. It features the Google Assistant, which lets you find information and get things done by chatting with Google’s computers. The company wants Home – which looks kind of like a white plastic salt shaker – to have a place at your dinner table and be the all-knowing, helpful extended family you never had. It also gives users an array of emojis and stickers and the option to increase or decrease the size of text to add emphasis.
Reporters and bloggers from around the world will attend, ensuring that whatever the company unveils will also be featured in stories, pictures and video delivered to a vast audience of consumers. You can decide whether to pick up based on their expression and environment.

We got a glimpse at some changes coming to Android N, and learned that Google can’t quite figure out a name for the platform, which is honestly pretty amusing (and great). The name needs to start with N and be a dessert.
The company is introducing Android Instant Apps—which let the user run Android apps instantly, without requiring installation”.
The cascade of AI-friendly products, which leverage Google’s lead in search, is a “smart bid” to maintain, if not extend, its firm grip on the AI market, said Carolina Milanesi, an analyst at Creative Strategies.

The new, more intelligent software also focuses on understanding context to answer queries and has been built into the existing Google software that appears on modern smartphones. For instance, an app that tracks meals consumed could sync with an exercise app to see if you’re burning enough calories.
