President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin have agreed to keep up negotiations over a cease-fire agreement for Syria, a senior Obama administration official said Monday.
Still, as Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin attended an economic summit, the leaders were under pressure to push the negotiations beyond the sticking points that have thus far prevented a deal. “However, we must ensure that it is an effective agreement”, the official said. The State Department has said it wants nationwide ceasefire between Syrian President Bashar Assad’s military and the rebels, rather than another limited “cessation of hostilities” that has repeatedly failed in the past.

The Islamic State militant group asserted responsibility for the bombings, as well as for another that targeted Syrian Kurds in the northeastern city of Qamishli and was not reported by SANA. “The second achievement which I think is very important is that China and the United States announced the ratification of the Paris Agreement”, said French President Francois Hollande.
The plan would forge an unlikely U.S.

Obama, who had just come from a 90-minute session with Putin on the sidelines of the summit, also pointedly noted, “We’ve had problems with cyber intrusions from Russian Federation and other countries in the past”.
