A three-member medical committee was constituted on Wednesday to probe death of 10 people after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Bihar’s Gopalganj district.

Five others were in critical condition at a government hospital here, said the police.
According to their families, the victims consumed locally brewed alcohol on Tuesday evening, after which they complained of stomach aches and breathlessness. All of them are residents of the Nonia Tola locality.
Refusing to confirm the reason behind the deaths, District Magistrate Rahul Kumar said, “We are probing the case and will be able to confirm the reason only after we get the postmortem report”.
However, Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Ravi Ranjan said this was not a hooch tragedy.
In April, Nitish imposed a blanket ban on production and consumption of liquor in the entire state, a promise he had made while campaigning for the state polls.
Thirteen people were admitted in Gopalganj Civil Hospital after experiencing symptoms of vomiting.
Additional Director General of Police Sunil Kumar said at least 4,707 people were arrested during the last four months and 3,719 FIRs were lodged in connection with flouting of the liquor ban.
