At least 16 dead, dozens missing in Nepal after landslides bury villages
At least 16 people have died and dozens more are missing after landslides triggered by heavy rains swept away two villages in quake-hit Nepal on Thursday.

Two powerful earthquakes in Nepal this year that killed nearly 9,000 people are believed to made slopes across the mountainous country unstable and raised the risk of landslides during the rainy season, which lasts from June to September.
The village is 200 kilometers (125 miles) west of Kathmandu.
Heavy monsoon rains in Nepal often trigger landslides in mountain area. “More teams are trying to reach the affected villages by removing landslides that have affected the Pokhara-Baglung highway”.
Crews are searching numerous homes that have been buried by the slides, the BBC report said, citing Nepali Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Raut.

The weather on Thursday morning was clear but the landslides had damaged the connecting road to the hamlet of Lumle, forcing the rescuers to walk for several hours, Godar said.
