At least 2 Dallas police buildings blocked off after anonymous threat
Some civil liberties advocates have raised concerns that it has created a troubling precedent.

Micah Johnson, a black Army veteran, began firing on officers while hundreds of people were gathered in downtown Dallas to protest recent fatal police shootings.
“This wasn’t an ethical dilemma for me”.
Our reporter Tasha Tsiaperas tweeted from the news conference. “‘Don’t bring the building down.’ But that was the extent of my guidance”.
Brown said he has no regrets about the move, which relied on a $51,000 robot that the department bought in 2008.
“They stayed there with us, and I saw another officer, I saw another officer get shot right in front of me”, she said through tears from a Dallas hospital.
Negotiations had failed and the gunman was still shooting at them, so police used C4 with a detonation cord mounted on a Remotec F-5 robot.
About 30 agents are also involved in identifying bullet casings, said William Temple, the Dallas agent in charge for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The Dallas police headquarters and the surrounding blocks were placed under lockdown on Saturday, and SWAT teams were deployed throughout the area, after the department received an anonymous threat against officers citywide.
“There’s over 170 hours of bodycam video to download, and that is ongoing”, Chief David Brown said.
In November 1963, President J.F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.
No shots were fired, and no suspect was found in the garage.
Dallas police have shut down a street in front of the department’s headquarters and there is a heightened police presence near the building. The family said the army reservist never showed any visible signs of hatred toward whites – Johnson’s stepmother is white – or other racial minorities.
James, 55, said he “loved his son with all his heart” but asserted “I hate what he did”. But over his six years of service, including a deployment to Afghanistan, Johnson became a “hermit”, the Johnsons said.

And at one point, Johnson, apparently wounded, wrote the letters “rb” in his own blood on a wall at the community college where he holed up during the shooting last Thursday.
