At Least 87 Dead In China Flooding, Many Missing
Torrential rain and floods left 130 people dead and 110 others missing in Hebei by Sunday.

North and northeast China have been swept by heavy rain this week, causing many casualties and a lot of property damage.
Flooding and rain-triggered landslides have caused the collapse of more than 52,000 houses and damage to 1.60 lakhs.
A flash flood near the city of Xingtai in Hebei province, which left nine dead and 11 missing, has become a focus of the public’s dissatisfaction with the Government’s response to the disaster.
Rain affected more than 14.76 million people in 10 provincial-level regions, including the hardest hit provinces of Henan and Hebei, forcing the relocation of 5.14 lakh people. They add that at least 120 people have been killed and the death toll is likely to rise.
Some 250,000 people were unable to leave the city of Tianmen in the central province, official news agency Xinhua reported the local government as saying.
Daxian village in Xingtai was almost wiped out when it was suddenly swamped by a flash flood in the early hours of Wednesday as villagers were asleep. According to Xinhua, 78 were reported missing from the northern province.
All in all, some 8.6 million people in China have been affected by the storms, state media and local governments said. So far, over 210 km of roads and more than 570 pieces of electrical equipment have been repaired, the report said.
