At Least Jimmy Kimmel Brought His Matt Damon Feud to the Emmys
Former Republican candidate Jeb Bush made an appearance in Jimmy Kimmel’s opening comedy skit and Hillary Clinton tweeted congratulations to her impersonator, Kate McKinnon of “Saturday Night Live”. He ended up sitting in the front seat with her chauffeur, who was – oddly – Jeb Bush.

That comment was part of a comedic sketch in which Kimmel hailed a few rides in order to get to the Emmys, and Bush was the driver of a limousine carrying “Veep” star Julia Louis Dreyfus.
“It you run a positive campaign, voters will ultimately make the right choice”, a deadpan Bush said, showing surprising comedic timing and some self-deprecating humor largely absent during his recent campaign run. Both Kimmel and Burnett, who accepted an award later for another one of his shows, “The Voice”, joked about that series’ stars being future Supreme Court nominees.
Kimmel then got a ride from James Corden, who threw him out of the vehicle when Kimmel didn’t do a good enough job singing Wham!’s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” – though there was a hilarious dream sequence where he and Corden were dressed as George Michael and Andrew Ridgley from Wham! in the video for that song. Burnett cast Trump in “The Apprentice”, the hit series that gave him a catchphrase (“you’re fired”) and a larger public profile.
“It’s amusing you say that, my psychi-” Kimmel begins to respond before getting cut off.
-Kimmel also unloaded on Dame Maggie Smith, who has never showed up for any of her Emmy nominations or wins. “Thanks to Mark Burnett, we don’t have to watch reality shows anymore, because we’re living in one”. Viewers hoping for a reprieve need not have tuned into last night’s Emmy awards, where, in addition to the usual elaborate gowns and tearful thank-you speeches, this year’s ceremonies were dominated by the Donald. We are not mailing this to her!
Under Kimmel’s leadership, the glitterati in the audience got a snack break as the kids from Netflix’s “Stranger Things” delivered peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches Kimmel said were prepared by his mother, who was seen in a remote kitchen hard at work.
Saying he was “between jobs”, Bush appeared just in time to whisk a running late Jimmy Kimmel on the way to the award show.
-The funniest moment, though, came right after Kimmel lost the Best Variety Talk Series Emmy to John Oliver.
“This is so humiliating”, Damon continued as Kimmel got more and more agitated. His pretend nemesis, Matt Damon, strolled onstage munching on an apple.
