At least one dead, multiple injured after shootings in downtown Austin
“The men and women of the Austin Police Department will work (tirelessly) to identify and apprehend the person responsible”, Acevedo said. A witness reported the shooter was “firing a weapon into a crowd” in a busy area at approximately 2:17 a.m. local time.

Three other people were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge.
Manley said police are trying to determine who the suspects are, and he didn’t rule out the possibility that a suspect might be one of those transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
A second unrelated shooting happened in a parking garage in the 800 block of Trinity Street, near the intersection with Eighth Street.
Manley said police were seeking help from the public, including any video recordings, in an effort to find the shooter who is believed to be in his 20s. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, three others were taken to a hospital and a fifth declined to be taken to the hospital.
The wounded are in critical condition but their wounds were not considered life-threatening, while another victim refused to be sent to hospital.
This story has been corrected to show that Manley’s title is Chief of Staff, not Chief.
APD said a man pulled out a gun and fired it. He was taken down by witnesses at the scene, and EMS took him to the hospital.
The nation has been on edge since the terrorist-related mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, in June that killed 49 leaving 53 wounded.
Austin police had earlier referred to the event as an “active shooter incident” in a tweet.
No additional information was immediately available.
