It was not immediately clear how many customers were affected by the outage.

AT&T said the problem also affected customers in Georgia, Texas, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

Around 10:30 p.m ET, AT&T announced on Twitter that the issue had been resolved.

In 2015, the FCC fined T-Mobile US $17.5 million after the carrier’s mobile network suffered two related 911 outages.

AT&T customers making calls to 911 may here it ringing but it may not be going through, said Jennifer Armendariz with Eddy County Emergency Services.

AT&T wireless customers across the US are experiencing outages affecting 9-1-1 calls, the company acknowledged in a tweet. Emergency officials around the country posted alternate emergency numbers until the service was restored.

“Continued to work through this nationwide outage is the ability to actually text 911”, Kagel said.

If you are in Longview and experience difficulty reaching 911, the number to reach police is 903-237-1199 or 903-237-1170.
