“This is some major buzz-kill for Samsung, especially given all of the hard-earned excitement that products like the Note 7 have been garnering lately”, IDC analyst Bryan Ma said.

The iris scanner packed inside the Galaxy Note 7 is not just a gimmicky feature, since Samsung has made a decision to add iris authentication for banking services. According to the local telecommunications industry on Wednesday, the company halted deliveries of the Note 7 to the country’s three mobile carriers, SK Telecom Co., KT Corp., and LG Uplus Corp. early this week, but whether the supply stoppage is related to the explosion issue remains unknown.
